Three Horns Plucked Up
"I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." Daniel 7:8
In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger we will discuss the three horns plucked up by the antichrist or little horn.

1. The Revived Roman Empire (EU) Or Ten Horns
a) The Revived Roman Empire
In Daniel 7:7 it says "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns." The fourth beast is the Revived Roman Empire. In Daniel 7:23 it says "Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces." We also see in this chapter the final kingdom, or Revived Roman Empire, will bring in the antichrist or little horn. b) The Final Kingdom
In Revelation 17:12-13 it says "12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast." In this passage of scripture we see the ten horns, which are now the Revived Roman Empire, receiving "power as kings one hour with the beast." Today the Revived Roman Empire or Final Kingdom is the European Union or EU. This beast is the antichrist, but in Daniel 7 the beast is called the little horn. In Daniel 7:8 it says "I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things." 2. Three Horns Plucked Up
In Daniel 7 the three of the first horns being plucked up (or removed) is mentioned three times. In Daniel 7:8,20 and 24 it says "8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.......20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.....24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings." In II Corinthians 13:1 it says "This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." The three witnesses shows the importance of this passage of scripture. As we said before, the Revived Roman Empire or Final Kingdom is the European Union or EU. These "three of the first horns plucked up by the roots" are France, Germany and Britain or UK. These three nations have a history of trying to rule the world or becoming an Empire. The nation of France had Napoleon Bonaparte who in 1804 set out to conquer the world but was defeated. The nation of Germany had the evil Adolf Hitler who tried to conquer the world but war defeated in World War II. And third, under Queen Victoria the British Empire was the largest empire in history. A famous saying at that time was "The sun never sets on the British Empire." Now we are seeing these three nations leading the EU.
An article titled "Euro 'Big Three' Focus On Economy"(Note 1) says
"Members of the European Union must adopt radical economic reforms, the leaders of the UK, France and Germany have said. Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac and Gerhard Schroeder made the call after talks focusing on efforts to make Europe the world's most competitive economy. The mini summit prompted complaints from other EU countries, who fear the big three want to dictate decisions. But the leaders said it was right to pool their ideas. BBC correspondent Allan Little in Berlin said the trio wanted to set the agenda but there was a danger resentment about the summit could cause divisions, not unity........But Chancellor Schroeder said the focus of the afternoon talks had been on promoting innovation through more research and development and on adapting social security systems to the changing world. Afterwards, the three men signed a joint letter calling for an EU economic reform 'tsar' to lead a push to make Europe more globally competitive."
Another article titled "EU's 'Big Three' Deny Power Grab" (Note 2) says
"The leaders of Germany, France and the UK have rejected charges that they are trying to grab power in the EU. Gerhard Schroeder, Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair were speaking after talks in Berlin on the future of the European Union and other major issues. The meeting prompted concerns from some European leaders that the three were trying to dominate an expanded EU. But Mr. Schroeder denied at the end of the meeting that the three were trying to 'dominate anyone, let alone Europe'. Mr Blair said it was valuable for the three countries to hold a summit in the wake of what he called 'a very difficult period'. France and Germany were among the most vocal critics of the US-led war on Iraq - while London backed Washington equally strongly. The UK prime minister said everyone would benefit from close co-ordination among the three big countries - which, he said, represented 'almost half the population and over half the wealth generated by Europe'. 'If we can come to agreement that is a good thing for our three countries, but also for Europe,' he said........ Italy's Europe Minister, Rocco Buttiglione, had warned before the meeting that the EU does not need the triumvirate to run its affairs. 'Nobody in Europe is ready to be a second-class citizen. Europe is made up of 25 countries, not of three," he told the BBC.'
An article published on January 20, 2002 titled "UK Wants EU 'Super Council'"(Note 3) says
"Britain is considering putting forward proposals to entrench the authority of the European Union's three biggest powers in a body similar to the United Nations Security Council. Its potentially explosive plan to recognise formally the predominance of Germany, France and the UK when the union expands from 15 to 25 members will upset smaller member states, and Spain and Italy. UK officials insist, however, that decision-making of the government heads of the European Council is already close to unworkable, and could be paralysed when up to 10 extra nations from southern and eastern Europe join in 2004. Britain's radical options for making decision-making easier involve having a permanent secretary general to chair council meetings, rather than the national leader who holds the EU's six-monthly rotating presidency. More radical still would be a Security Council-type inner body that could take executive decisions outside meetings of the full 25-member council."
In closing, these articles that show the tension within the EU over the dominance of Germany, France and the U.K. shows how close we are to seeing Daniel 7:8 being fulfilled.
