This Gospel Of The
Kingdom
And this gospel
of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness
unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14
In this issue of The
Prophetic Messenger we will discuss "this gospel
of the kingdom" as spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24:14.
1. Let's Look at the Gospel Preached by Jesus and the Apostles
a) Jesus Christ
The gospel that Jesus Christ preached was one of repentance.
In Mark 1:14-15 it says "14 Now after that John was put
in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the
kingdom of God,15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."
Jesus Christ also used many parables to preach the gospel
of the kingdom. We will share the parable of the sower in the
gospel of Mark. In Mark 4:1-9 it says" 1 And he began
again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him
a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in
the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them
in his doctrine, 3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to
sow: 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way
side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. 5 And
some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately
it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 But when the
sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered
away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and
choked it, and it yielded no fruit. 8 And other fell on good
ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and
brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear."
Jesus Christ in Mark 4:10-20 explains the meaning of this
parable. In Mark 4:10-20 it says "10 And when he was
alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him
the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to
know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are
without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing
they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and
not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and
their sins should be forgiven them. 13 And he said unto them,
Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
14 The sower soweth the word. 15 And these are they by the way
side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan
cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in
their hearts. 16 And these are they likewise which are sown on
stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately
receive it with gladness;17 And have no root in themselves, and
so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution
ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. 18
And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear
the word,19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness
of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the
word, and it becometh unfruitful. 20 And these are they which
are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it,
and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some
an hundred." From this parable we see four types of
people. They are the following: 1. By the way side - "where
the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately,
and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts."
2. Sown of stony ground - "who, when they have heard
the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root
in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when
affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately
they are offended." 3. Sown among thorns - "such
as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness
of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the
word, and it becometh unfruitful." 4. Sown on good ground
- "such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth
fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred."
We see from this parable that only the one sown on good ground
will bring forth fruit.
b) Apostle -Peter
The apostle Peter also preached the message of repentance.
On the day of Pentecost, the apostle Peter preached a powerful
message of repentance and about 3,000 people were added to the
church. In Acts 2:29-41 it says "29 Men and brethren,
let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he
is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this
day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn
with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according
to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ,
that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see
corruption. 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all
are witnesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted,
and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost,
he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 34 For David
is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD
said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 35 Until I make
thy foes thy footstool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel
know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have
crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this,
they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to
the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one
of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise
is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many
other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves
from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received
his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto
them about three thousand souls."
2. Jesus and the Apostles Demonstrated the Gospel
a) Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ did not only preach the gospel, but He also followed
His preaching with signs and miracles. In Matthew 8 we see many
miracles done by Jesus Christ. In Matthew 8:1-17 it says "1
When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed
him. 2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying,
Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put
forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean.
And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus saith unto
him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, show thyself to the
priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony
unto them. 5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there
came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And saying, Lord,
my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 The centurion
answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest
come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall
be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers
under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another,
Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth
it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that
followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith,
no, not in Israel. 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come
from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and
Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children
of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall
be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And Jesus said unto the
centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done
unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. 14
And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's
mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15 And he touched her hand,
and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were
possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word,
and healed all that were sick: 17 That it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took
our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses." In just these
few passages of scripture, we see Jesus Christ heal a leper,
heal the centurion's servant through His spoken word, heal Peter's
wife's mother, and heal many people who were sick and possessed
with devils.
b) Apostles
Acts 5 shows many miracles performed by the apostles of Jesus
Christ. These miracles brought many people to the LORD. In Acts
5:11-16 it says "11 And great fear came upon all the
church, and upon as many as heard these things. 12 And by the
hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among
the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
13 And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the
people magnified them. 14 And believers were the more added to
the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.) 15 Insomuch that
they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on
beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing
by might overshadow some of them. 16 There came also a multitude
out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks,
and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were
healed every one."
c) Evangelist - Philip
We see the evangelist Philip preach and perform many miracles
in Samaria. This brought many people to the Lord. In Acts 8:4-8
it says "4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad
went every where preaching the word. 5 Then Philip went down
to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 6 And
the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which
Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7
For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many
that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and
that were lame, were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that
city."
3. Jesus and the Apostles Spoke With Power and Anointing
a) Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ preached the gospel with power and anointing. In
Luke 4:18-21, 31-37 it says "18 The Spirit of the Lord
is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel
to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,19 To preach the acceptable
year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again
to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that
were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to
say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears..........31
And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them
on the sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at his doctrine:
for his word was with power. 33 And in the synagogue there was
a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out
with a loud voice, 34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do
with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us?
I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. 35 And Jesus rebuked
him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the
devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt
him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves,
saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he
commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. 37 And the
fame of him went out into every place of the country round about."
b) Apostle -Paul
The apostle Paul also preached the gospel with power and
anointing. In I Thessalonians 1:5-10 it says "5 For our
gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and
in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner
of men we were among you for your sake. 6 And ye became followers
of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction,
with joy of the Holy Ghost: 7 So that ye were examples to all
that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For from you sounded
out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but
also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad;
so that we need not to speak any thing. 9 For they themselves
show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how
ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the
dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."
Also in I Corinthians 2:1-5 it says "1 And I, brethren,
when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of
wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined
not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words
of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but
in the power of God."

Memory Verses
As Christians if we want to
live in victory and if we want to be able to share the Word Of
God with others we must know the Word of God ourselves. Let's
see what the Bible says about this. "Thy word have I
hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm
119:11. " If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
John 15:7. "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed
on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed."
John 8:31. We encourage you to put the following scriptures in
your heart: Matthew 7:14, Revelation 22:18-19, Jeremiah 10:1-4,
