In this issue of The Prophetic Messenger we will discuss how America is becoming like Sodom and Gomorrha.

1. History Of America's Beginning
America's beginnings were rich in the bible and Christian living. The Pilgrims or Separatists reached the New World in hopes of religious freedom in 1620. During the "Great Migration" more than 20,000 Puritans came to New England from 1630 to 1640. "In 1647, Massachusetts passed a law named 'Ole' Deluder Satan Act', 'which directed all towns of at least 50 households to hire a teacher to teach their children to read and write. It also provided that towns of at least 100 households establish a school to educate and prepare future ministers for further training at college.' " The meaning of the name "Ole' Deluder Satan Act", was to defeat " 'the old deluder, Satan' in his attempt 'to keep men from the knowledge of the Scriptures. The act established the first public school system in America, a system which recognized the importance of the Bible in a civilized society.'" (Note 1)

"In 1636, the Puritans founded the first college in the colonies Harvard College - to train ministers to preach the gospel." The leaders of Harvard said "Let every student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life (John 17:3) and therefore lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning." (Note 1)

The Great Awakening took place in America between 1730 to 1760 and helped shape the spiritual heritage of our country. America sent missionaries all over the world and biblical principles were put in the laws and documents such as The Declaration of Independence. There are so many references of our Christian heritage in scriptures all over many historical sites and even in our court houses people put their hand on a bible and take an oath to tell the truth.

2. Sodom And Gomorrah Before It Was Destroyed
When Abram (whose name was later changed to Abraham) and Lot separated, Lot chose to live in Sodom. We see what God said about the men of Sodom in Genesis 13. In Genesis 13:13 it says "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly." In Genesis 19 God shows us the state of Sodom and Gomorrah before He had to destroy it. In Genesis 19:1-14 it says "1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: 5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. 10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. 11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. 12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: 13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law." This passage of scripture describes Lot meeting with two angels at the gate of Sodom and inviting them to his house to eat. We see that before the angels had laid down, men surround the house of Lot and wanted to rape these two angels of God. After the angels supernaturally delivered Lot into his house, the angels smote the men of Sodom with blindness. Even after this the men of Sodom were trying to find the door.

3. Has America Become Sodom?
In the United States today, the sodomites and lesbians are perverting this whole nation through the leaders in this nation. In Romans 1:18-32, God's Word shows us how Rome was immoral and had sodomites and lesbians in the days of the apostle Paul. In Romans 1:18-32 it says "18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shown it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." Rome later lost its power as a world empire.

Here are two recent articles showing the sodomites influence on our politicians across the nation. In an article titled " House Rejects Proposed Constitutional Ban On Same-Sex Marriage", subtitled " 'Issue Is Not Over,' " Hastert Says; Senate Already Defeated Bill" (Note 2) says "The House rejected a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage on Tuesday, a setback that conservatives hope to turn to their advantage in the fall elections.......The vote was 236-187 with one member voting 'present,' a slight improvement over the last House vote just before the 2004 election but still 46 short of the two-thirds majority needed to advance a constitutional amendment......... Opponents, including 27 Republicans, argued that the measure was meaningless-the Senate rejected the amendment last month, effectively killing it for this session of Congress-- as well as unneeded and mean-spirited."

Another article titled "Gay-Marriage Backers Place Newspaper Ads", subtitled "Recent Setbacks In Court Won't Stop Campaign, They Say" (Note 3) says "Three major gay-rights groups are taking out full-page advertisements starting today in 50 newspapers nationwide declaring their determination to keep fighting for same-sex marriage rights despite recent court setbacks....... The ads feature photographs of five same-sex couples who have been together as long as 53 years and are endorsed by an array of organizations and individuals, including 11 religious leaders and nine mayors......Signatories of the ads included mayors of Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Salt Lake City, Providence, R.I., Portland, West Sacramento, Calif., and Palm Springs, Calif." The fact that Congress could not pass a bill defining marriage as a man and woman with a two-thirds majority shows just how immoral America is today. From these two articles we see how America has become like Sodom. In II Peter 2:6 it says "6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example unto those that after should live ungodly;"

In closing, we must pray that those bound by this demon of perversion would be delivered by the power of God through salvation in Jesus Christ and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
